The economics of art and business are similar. The economics of DA and business are not. With art and business,  value is imputed by a perceived quality.  This perception will increase or decrease with time - often wildly. The retail houses created during the last ten years (in the US) are still physically standing and in good condition in desirable locations.  The only thing that has changed is the perception of the people. I have had the good fortune of NOT going to any form of art school.  The re-invention of the wheel makes my work our of round yet the stamp of my hands are all over the work. It seems that traditional and post-modern art schools have the same intent.  To convince you that theirs is the true and best way.  Sort of like organized religion.  Indeed, religion and art share so much in common.  A belief in a "beginning:.  A belief in the "one true way", a belief in hierarchy and priesthood.  There are those that possess secret and ultimate knowledge that are only available to the blessed and chosen few. I beg to differ.
